Journal

I add stuff to my online journal that I find entertaining or informative. Sometimes it is a story, poem, quote, or recent event in my life. Many times I am busy and don't record anything. Enjoy my ramblings... (The date field is in European notation dd-mm-yyyy.)

The last seven journal entries are available below. View all journal entries.

Firebird Plug-in for Web Development I recently read on the Gadgetopia blog about a must have web development tool that is a plug-in for Firebird. I definitely agree! dd-mm-yyyy 23-10-2003 14:37:21
Layoffs Continue MAP experienced more layoffs recently. I happy to report that I am a survivor. dd-mm-yyyy 21-10-2003 11:16:00
World Series Unfortunately, I had to turn down a free ticket to the World Series game on thursday evening. I could have used my free voucher to fly to Florida for the game. :-( Oh well, maybe next time!

Mandy and I spent a wonderful sweetest day together.

Mozilla Firebird I've installed Mozilla Firebird (v0.7) and am very impressed with it. If you want a lean, mean browser that supports tab browsing it is for you. I can't stand to use Internet Explorer anymore. It seems that scroll wheel clicking doesn't open a new tab in Internet Explorer. What a bloated piece of junk! Download Mozilla Firebird today! It works on most platforms.. dd-mm-yyyy 17-10-2003 08:24:30
Link Checker I decided to run the W3C link checker on my site. I discovered that Jeremy removed http://www.zawodny.com/jeremy/ in favor of http://jeremy.zawodny.com/. This broke lots of links in my photo gallery since I link Jeremy to credit him for the photo gallery software I use. I fixed this with a neat little Perl script:
perl -pi -e "s/http://www.zawodny.com/jeremy//http://jeremy.zawodny.com//g;" */*

Also, I've decided to clean up Jeremy's photo gallery software and make it more automated and user friendly.

Journal I am thinking of writing PHP to generate an RSS feed to make it easier for you to read my journal. Joshw requested this and I think others will find it useful.

I just started using Feedreader which makes it easy to read Blogs, since it aggregates all them into a single tidy program. (No more opening my "Start Page" webpage and scroll clicking in FireBird). I have had good luck with Feedreader v2.5 Build 610.
