So.. Amanda and Chris' little Peanut has passed on a "meme" to me. This requires me to list 8 random things about myself. Here goes nothing.
1. I always sleep with my feet out of the covers, I can't STAND to have them under the covers. They just get so hot!!! As for the rest of me, I am always cold to some degree.
2. During times of low self-esteem as a child I used to wonder if I had a serious disability but no one ever told me. Like, maybe by not telling me that I was impaired I was managing to accomplish more than anyone actually expected. But, still making an ass of myself!
3.To the best of my knowledge, I have performed in about 33 productions:
Live it to the MAX- Narrator +solo
Live at the Palace -Laverne
Live it to the MAX 2- Narrator
Once Upon a Mattress- chorus
Bells are Ringing- Sue

Funny, I actually thought there would be more, that was a fun mental exercise.
4. Fortunately I have yet to break a bone, get stiches or have surgery. So no interesting scar stories. Just one little chicken pox scar on my stomach., but I'm fine with that.
5. I have always been attracted to strong shoulders on a guy. Asa, totally fits that bill.
6. Throughout my life I have gone through phases of intense obsession: There was the Today's Special phase, the Ricky Schroder in Silver Spoons phase, the Bette Midler rocks/ Beaches phase, Kirk Cameron phase, the Babysitter's Club phase, scrapbooking phase, Day's of Our Lives phase, currently I'm totally in "The Office" phase.
7. I kissed a boy in first grade I had a crush on, he was not happy. I think his name was Gary?!? I remember some guy who always got in trouble, his name Was Clinton. I always hung out with a kid named Tim. I wonder what happened to those guys?!?
8. I pick up traits of people I admire, not even on purpose. If someone has an addicitve laugh I pick it up.... currently, I am groaning and making a face like Anne, my awesome speech assistant. I don't even notice the sayings I picked up from Asa anymore, they have become such a part of me.
Wow, I'm glad I didn't have to do 108 like Chris, 8 was tough enough.
Well yesterday was our first wedding anniversary! I can't believe it has been a year already. I still hold so many wedding memories close to me, they still seem so clear. Like Chris running to the back of the church to tell me he has to pee. Like when we drove past the front of the church and Asa was dressed and posed for the camera and smiling. My heart burst with a feeling that I was doing the right thing and this was all going to be great! When my mom put the veil on my head and cried. when my girls gave me a group hug. Of course when my dad walked me down the aisle and I finally got to stand with Asa.
In the past year we have learned so much and are even closer.
We started yesterday by going to church and then to the Olive Garden (the chain where we had our first date). Once we got home, Asa had me close my eyes and he went to the guest room and made a rukus. Eventually, he had me hold out my hand and I felt a stap and a plastic case. It was a replacement for my SLR camera that had broken. He found the same model on e-bay! Also, he was aware that you're supposed to give paper on your first anniversary. He had a large poster made that said, " Asa and Mandy's Adventure" It was full of square pictures of us together in our wedding and on trips etc. I was so moved, it was even beautifully framed!! It was funny, we traded cards and we each bought the exact same card.
We cut into our cake together and I tried to feed him a piece but I dropped it and Barkley gobbled it up. It was as delicious as it had been last year! We had the day to spend together and even danced to our wedding song.
It was more wonderful than I could have imagined. I am so blessed to have found and kept him!
Asa will be loading our photos up soon!
Wow! Ihave been VERY busy, but I'll get to those details later.
Back to the Florida trip...
On Monday Asa and I enjoyed a big breakfeast at Chef Mickey's, yum! Then I waited for the shuttle to the Animal Kingdom. Since I was staying at a resort I got to take advantage of the extra magic hours so even though I only got there about 15 minutes early, it was cool (although it made me feel guilty) to walk by the lines and go right into the park. I headed directly for the Africa area and got on the Safari jeep in less than 10 minutes!!! SO cool! I can't imagine how long people had to wait later in the day. It was really fun with great animals in a very natural environment. I saw the largest giraffe I have ever seen! They even had some small thrills thrown in, including a high speed chase with some poachers!
The next big ride was Everest. I LOVED this ride. They even had a single passenger line that made my wait time very small. I rode it twice. I wanted to stay all day!
I also visited the Dino land and rode a spinning coaster there, it was really fun but the wait took forever and I began to discover my annoyance with fast pass people. The fast pass didn't work for me because I planned to jump from park to park and couldn't schedule my day. One side of the coaster broke so they let all those people on our side and the wait was FOREVER!!!
Next I went to Epcot and basically got incredibly lost there, I had forgotten to pick up a map. It was just so huge!!! I rode my old favorites, such as Imagination (although the rest of imagination was taken over by Kodak and was lousy compared to what I remembered as a kid). I tried to get a Fastpass for "Soarin" but I said I should come back at 8:30!!! So I just waited, again, forever. But it was cool. It was like round IMAX screen in front of you and you are sitting in a chair that raises off the floor and moves with your feet dangling as you are treated to an exciting parasail experience. Really neat.
I stopped and tried a Segway for the first time, sweet, I want one.
I rode starship Earth for Asa, still kinda boring and wierd how it stops in the middle.
I ate lunch in Norway after I walked all the way to Italy hoping for pizza which they didn't have. But my Norway meal was great. I even got a delicious pastry. ( Epcot is divided into countries, basically you can walk around the world in about 30 minutes.) In Norway I tried a ride based on Viking ships called "Malestrom". It was okay.
They had beautiful gardens, with topiaries of all your favorite characters.
Next I took the tram back to the hotel and Asa and I dined in the California Grill. It was a beautiful restaurant overlooking the Magic Kingdom and we were there during sunset.
Afterwards, I headed to the Magic Kingdom, because it was my ultimate goal to ride Space Mountain. I was too scared when I was little. When I got there the ride was shut down for the fireworks!!! So I took a trip down memory lane and rode, Snow White, Peter Pan and It's a Small World. Too bad I missed the fireworks though, I have never seen those. Afterwards I got in line for Space Mountain. It was a long wait and then I waited even longer because I wanted the front seat. Dang, that was an awesome ride!!! Wish I could have done it again. When I got off the rides were closed, I headed back to the enterance and was surprised to see the Light parade!!!! I freaked beacuse I loved this when I was five and I thought they had ended that! YES ! I was spellbound and all worked up because it really was a dream, so amazing!
(not my footage, mines better, but I'm lazy)
Afterwards, I jumped right on the tram and was back to my hotel within minutes. I could have gone to MGM which was open until 1 a.m. but I was just too tired and my feet were killing me!!!
The next day after another great breakfeast I took a long nap and then went down the waterslide, sat in the hot tub and then lounged in a hammock by the lake. It was wonderful, and I called Chrissy to tell her where I was.
Then it was time to go :( . But even that wasn't without it's Disney magic. I was able to check in at the airport right there at the hotel, they even took my luggage!!! Then I rode the Magic Express to the airport. I am proud that I managed to get home on my own!
What a great trip and break from it all.
