Join the Dwight Army of Champions!

So it was a great day! I slept in until 11 and then made a late brunch. It started to snow soon after and it was a beautiful sight. I thought it was going to snow until we were trapped inside but it didn't. The mailman didn't even have trouble getting to us. I got the best surprise today!!! A signed autograph of Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) He wrote, "Mandy- join my army of champions! Rainn Wilson" it was on a picture of Dwight peeking out of the conference room during the Health Care episode in season one were he is given permission to make that room his personal workspace. This is fantastic, I love it! I even got a bonus signature from him on a letter thanking me for donating to his chosen foundation. The Mona Foundation http://www.monafoundation.org/ was brought to my attention by the awesome officetally.com and I discovered it to be an awesome foundation that helps to educate needy children in 8 countries. If you are looking for a good way to share your wealth with others I recommend checking them out. Not familiar with Dwight's army?? Here's a very short clip from the show.

This evening we attended the annual Marathon Christmas party at the University of Findlay. I bought a new dress that was kind of different for me, it looks kind of 60's style. I wore it with high black boots,I loved it.

The party was fantastic but I did miss the chocolate fountain this year. They replaced it with a dessert bar full of Dietch's chocolates and other goodies so no real complaints here! The food was fantastic and so were the drinks especially the coffee stand, I loved the caramel latte and Grasshopper drinks. The theme was peppermint. They had an ice sculpture of a gingerbread house that looked like an actual gingerbread house was inside, so cool!

Asa was like a celebrity! He just had a huge front page article with multiple pictures on the front page of the marathon newsletter, G.O. ,about his participation in slalom at nationals. Everyone brought it up! I was happy because Asa deserves the attention after all the hours of work he puts into it. I think he is more motivated than ever for next year.

Well I'm exhausted now. Stay warm!

I'm feeling pretty good!

Well I have to go back to work tomorrow. I'm pretty nervous about facing that place again after being off all week. I began getting sick on Sunday and losing my voice. It is just now coming back but is still pretty rough. I went to the doctor and she recommended that I stay home take some antibiotics and go on vocal rest. It really helped but now vacations over. I wish I had gotten more done during my break but I was too sick so I slept most of it away.

What makes it interesting is that I began auditions for Grease at the Ritz on Sunday. I knew my voice was beginning to weaken but I survived and gave a good solo performance and a few decent readings. I totally screwed up the dance routine so I wasn't to happy I just felt weak. By Monday my voice was completely lousy but they had called me back so I went. Then, I got called back yet again for Tuesday!!! This time when I sang one judge asked me to try to sing in my head and not in my throat ( a very basic singing skill). Shocked I told them I had laryngitis. They were like, "We wondered why you sounded so different". I hadn't told them because I didn't want to make excuses and I thought it was obvious. Everyone else I met seemed to think so. Well, the competition was incredibly fierce but I guess I must have a friend because it didn't take them long to call and tell my that I got Marty. She is a Pink Lady and sings "Freddy My Love" about all her solider boy pen-pals who send her gifts.

I have never been a fan of the plot of Grease, morally I think it's wrong for Sandy to become a bad girl to get the guy in the end but...... it is fun!!! As long as you don't use your brain it's a great show. I am excited about "Summer Nights" and "We Go Together" etc.

This snow is exciting! I think my school was probably off today (I don't know because I was going to stay home anyway) which means we have used 4/5 calamity days already thanks to the flood. We may never get out this summer.

Later!
